Usually played with chips, Poker is a game of chance. Players are dealt five cards and use them to make the best hand possible. The goal of the game is to beat the other players in the pot. The highest hand wins the pot. The best natural hand is a straight flush, which is made up of five cards in the same suit.

Some poker games have wild cards, which supplement other cards. These include the king, which can be linked with a deuce or ace. Some poker variations also add jokers, which are cards that can be used instead of any other card.

There are hundreds of different ways to play poker. Some of the most common are Draw Poker, Stud Poker and Texas Hold’em. Each variation has its own rules. In a game with more than eight players, two separate games are created.

Typically, the player to the left of the dealer has a small blind. This means that the player must bet a certain amount before receiving any more cards. Once he has put in the bet, he is dealt two more cards. Then, the player to the left must “drop” or “call” the bet.

If the pot is tied, each player must show his cards to see who has the best hand. The hand that has the highest card wins. If two identical hands are tied, the higher pair wins. When no pair is shown, the tie breaks with the highest high card.
